About The Beauty Of Photography / benny voodoo
My Background
my name is Benny "Baboo" Voodoo, and I specialize in art photography. I was born in Ethiopia in the small village called "Wezeva" in the Gondar region. In 1984 I came to Israel with my family after a difficut arduous trek with a l ong stay in squalid refugee camps in Sudan. Between 2005-2007, I studied engineering and majored in photography and digital media at Sapir College in Sderot. It was at Sapir I realized that photography would become a mission for me. In the first few months I began to understand that nobody photographed the traditional community of Ethiopian Jews in Israel - exhibiting this artistic side of photography. As a result, I acquired my first still camera (Nikon D70 second hand) and I started on that mission - to bring the vivid Ethiopian Israeli tradition, colors, customs and life to the mainstream world. In 2008 I bought the equipment for my first studio, and I began to photograph "in studio" art in Rehovot City. Between my studio shots you can see the series "Love Flowers", "Self-Portrait" and "White Point", which were Influenced by different artists in the world of photography. For my next major artistic undertaking I will photograph the portraits of Ethiopian Jews in my studio.

What is artistic photography for me?
First of all, I say that photography is an easy way for me to express my feelings and thoughts about the environment, through my personal observation. When I shoot, I feel as though I am in another dimension ... What does that mean I am able to express everyday details we would normally not notice. Through personal observation, the image becomes broad and relevant, therefore, that the picture becomes more complex. Viewers think about, look at and feel the image in a profound way. Photography for me is not just about talent or professionalism it is also a way of life that leads me to always strive to test myself in every stage of my life. Because of this, many different kinds of people identify more with my work. Thank you for viewing my site.../ Special thanks to Michael Alex Wein, Avinoam Hadas and Kasa Bayisin who helped me in editing and much more.
